The past 18 months have been full of changes, with the last 4 months reluctantly giving us time to take a break, although we have spent time developing a new entry off Beaufort St. This is following the sale of the block with the 3 bedroom cottage.
We now have 2 x 2 bedroom cottages with magnificent views over the Avon Valley. Each bedroom has an en suite and all linen and towels are provided and washed regularly. The kitchen is well equipped, and there is a large dining/lounge area which has a wood fire (available from 1st May until the end of August) as well as a reverse cycle AC. Free to air TV and Foxtel is also available. We provide each booking with a bottle of our delicious, well regarded homemade Lime Cordial and a jar of homemade Marmalade.
Being self-catering, you are still able to avoid some of the difficulties associated with COVID-19 in regards to social distancing.
We have many animals – 2 miniature donkeys (Sybil and Polly), 3 alpacas (Basil , Manuel, and Ned), a Llama (Mr. Bean) and Murray the goat. They have all aged well and always enjoy their snacks from our guests.
Meanwhile, the ducks continue to lay eggs and we are hoping to add to our number of chickens too!
Jack the dog has unfortunately not been well as he is 13 years old and has a tumour in the lungs– he has been a tremendous companion and loved by all. Rehomed by us 4 years ago, he has given us much love and memories.
Apart from feeding the animals, you can pick oranges during June for Cara Cara Navels in July for Arnold Blood oranges.
Other Attractions Within Walking Distance
As you turn off Julimar Rd into Clarkson St, you will notice on your right a new development: Fairytale Farm is within walking distance from our cottages and we plan to include a voucher for you to see this magical place. The Duckworth family have worked hard to bring this dream to reality. Due to COVID 19 they will be unable to open until the July school holidays, so look forward to it!
Also close by is Vintage Dining at Pecan Hill. They make some wonderful food, especially fish and chips on Friday which you can eat in or take away.
As W.A. recovers from COVID 19, we are unsure of future attractions in the town of Toodyay but will keep our FaceBook page up to date with events.
